Kahlia has been involved in competitive swimming for 17 years and has 12 years of professional coaching experience. As an athlete Kahlia represented Victoria numerous times, as well as Australia on the Junior Dolphins Trans-Tasman team. She has won Victorian Open Water and State Age and Open gold medals in the pool. Her personal achievements are what created her passion for coaching as she loves seeing athletes accomplish their goals.
As a coach, Kahlia has worked with numerous athletes to help them achieve qualifying times from Country Championships through to Australian Age National Championships. She was selected as the Victorian State Open Water Assistant Coach in 2020 and 2021, and a Victorian Performance Pathways Coach in 2022. In2020, Kahlia was also selected into the High-Performance Coaching Pathways team of elite female coaches within Victoria. Kahlia is currently a commentator for Swimming Victoria and was accepted into the Change our Game women in sports media program for 2024.
Kahlia was previously head coach at Doncaster-Templestowe Swim Club, and Director of Coaching at Boronia Penguins where she has helped 4 junior coaches become qualified. She believes in developing young athletes through extensive technique and skills work beginning with our juniors. She has a holistic approach to her coaching and focuses on creating incredible people through sport, not just great swimmers. She brings undeniable energy, dedication and commitment to developing a successful team.
